By Katie L. McClellanThe theme park industry has a rich tradition of innovating with its creations.
But one thing that hasn’t changed since Disney first created Mickey Mouse in 1928, is that the theme park world has continued to evolve.
In a wide-ranging interview with The Irish Sun, Mickey Mouse designer Bob Wiegert explained why he decided to focus on the design of a balloon that mimics the character.
“I’ve always loved balloons and I’ve always wanted to make a balloon,” WiegERT said.
“I’ve got a passion for balloons and thought the idea of a Mickey Mouse Balloon design was a cool idea.”
This is one of the best balloons in the world, and we all want one.
“When you’ve got Mickey Mouse, that’s the Mickey Mouse you want to design.”
The balloons featured in Disney parks are often a major attraction, attracting crowds from all over the world.
But in recent years, balloons have increasingly been seen as a source of entertainment, and in recent weeks have been featured in new animated films, such as Toy Story 3, Finding Nemo, Monsters University and Finding Dory.
“There are so many things we’re seeing around the world now where people want to see Mickey Mouse balloons,” Wirtert said.
“It’s a great time to design something, and I think the theme parks and all of the animation we’ve been seeing around is really exciting.”
To create the Mickey mouse balloons for the Disney parks, Wiegraft’s team developed a number of different ideas, which they tested at a local amusement park.
“We had to take a lot of time, a lot thought, a good amount of engineering, a great deal of time thinking about the balloon,” he said.
The balloons were built in three different locations at a variety of locations, and Wiegman explained how the process of making the balloons was challenging.
“You’ve got to get a lot different elements together to make it a proper Mickey Mouse,” he explained.
“The balloons we used were quite a few different pieces, so we had to go through and put them all together and it was really difficult to make something that would fit together properly.”
Some of the pieces had to be taken off, so it was very tricky.
“Also the ropes, the tethers, the ropes on the balloon, and the tether for the other pieces had also to be removed and then the balloons had to come together again.”
The design of the balloons for Disney parks is often very complicated.
Wiegerton explains that the balloons are meant to look like Mickey Mouse and he says that they are meant for a particular theme park in particular.
“At the same time, you’ve never seen the balloons come together and come out at the same moment,” he added.
“So it’s very hard to predict how the balloons will come out.”
But if you put a balloon in front of someone, they will see it for the first time.
It’s like seeing a new person in the park.
And if you make a mistake, they’ll know it.
“And then you just go to the next attraction, you know.
And that’s what’s so great about the design.”
Wiegert also explains that he would like to design the balloons in such a way that they would be able to be used for a number different attractions in the parks, such a Magic Kingdom, Disneyworld, Epcot and more.
“One of the things I would like for the balloons to do, for Disney, is be able have different things like Mickey, Snow White, Mickey, and others, so that you could have different balloon designs, different balloons, and different shows,” he noted.
“Because the balloons we’re doing are different than what the original Mickey balloons had, so if we could design a balloon design that would have different colours and different shapes, then I would love to do that.”
That would be really fun.
